As we enter Ramadan, do not try to think of it as simply refraining from food, water, and intimacy from sunrise to sunset. It is much more than that. It is a time of purification, increased spirituality, and intimacy with Allah. Do plenty of Dhikr, prayers, reading the Quran, and give to charity. Try not to concern yourself with worldly desires and overeat during ifitar. Think of fasting as a state of purification. Avoid backbiting, lust, envy, etc and be generous, patient, and kind. Let the month transform you and emerge from it a better person in action and thoughts. Remember this could be your last Ramadan.
